The Department’s location at 1 N 1st Street was inspired by drawings from Frank Lloyd Wright. It was also home to the Korrick Department Store, which served the Phoenix community for over 50 years.180 Degrees was contracted to perform construction on this 7-story building. The tenant improvement for this 16,000 square foot collaborative workspace offers private offices, reserved desks and flexible workspaces. The entire floor was stripped of all items exposing the structure and eliminating any unused utilities. The design called for all items above a 10-foot datum line to remain exposed. This required special attention to craft with the construction of overhead utilities which normally would be concealed but now were to remain visible. Not only did 180 Degrees orchestrate the construction work, it also self-performed many of the finishes including custom metal work, raised wooden lobby platform, polycarbonate walls and door systems and custom tectum ceilings.
