Downtown Phoenix| Phoenix Towers

This 14-story residential tower is on the National Register of Historic Places and in 2009, 180 Degrees was contracted to perform construction on a renovation of the entry canopy and the enclosed roof terrace penthouse and the ancillary support spaces including kitchen/food prep spaces and restrooms. This required performing construction related activities while minimizing the impact to 64 occupied residential units in the floors below. Special attention was also given to the historic elements and existing structural components while new utilities were routed through the structure and new finishes were installed. The design left the historic elements to exist in their own capacity while the new work was decisively modern with new surfaces are treated as applications, leaving gaps to expose the existing structure at opportune moments. With the addition of terrazzo floors,  polished aluminum trim and metal wall panels the new common use space is not only elegant but also easy to maintain.
